The arguments were compelling, and many clients quickly embraced the logic, but it was clear that few companies understood the benefits of cloud computing. There was a great deal of confusion. Before we could talk about why we're the standard in the field we had to explain the fundamental, generic cloud IT benefits to begin with.
But then something dramatic happened. In 2009 people began calling us who already knew exactly why they should be in the cloud. What they wanted to talk about instead was our migration process, our Help Desk, and most importantly, could they please see a demonstration of the OS33 Portal Desktop.
This sudden cloud enlightenment was primarily due to the efforts of two companies, IBM, and their tech bretherin across the country at Microsoft. Both had begun spending billions extolling the virtues of running a cloud IT-based business. In highlighting the cloud, they instantly became rainmakers for us.
While overdue, we would like to take this opportunity to say "thank you," particularly to whomever it was at MS and IBM who made the decision to grow the cloud computing market.
The only thing we regret is that you didn't begin a little sooner, say in 2002, the year External IT began taking companies into the cloud. You might consider raising your marketing budgets this year, to make up waiting so long. Just a thought.
