The word "platform", as they use it, is anything that enables a developer to build and deploy an application to the cloud.A total of 20 technologies/companies, were chosen as having the "coolest platforms," however only one technology on their list is the sort of underlying platform that a small to midsize company needs to build a comprehensive, unified, performance-enhancing cloud IT solution: the OS33 Portal Desktop--the very platform we use, and originally developed, here at External IT.
No Hosted Desktop companies made the CRN list, but then Hosted Desktops require that you build everything from scratch, like your Aunt Tillie's "from the old country" cake recipes, so the word "coolest" wouldn't apply. (Hm. Perhaps firms selling Hosted Desktops should give away a free apron and rolling pin to each new client.)
