External IT vs. Rackspace

We often receive calls from companies who are debating whether they should work with us, or with Rackspace. In most cases, the decision is actually quite easy to make.

If you're a large firm that needs extra offsite servers, and you have a large, in-house IT department and you plan to grow it, both Rackspace and External IT deliver Enterprise Level managed hosting. A coin flip can make the decision for you.

There's a dramatic difference between hosted applications and an integrated hosted business.

If you are a large firm, with a sizeable IT department, are looking for offsite infrastructure and would like to enhance your capabilities by incorporating the OS33 Portal Desktop, your decision is even easier. There's no need to even flip a coin.

Rackspace, like the vast world of managed hosting companies, does not offer a unifying cloud desktop. This means that they don't offer you any end-user support. It also means that there are no desk-side benefits for your staff.

Rackspace does not manage custom or industry specific applications, let you unify SaaS with Windows, or enable you to use any application in an interoperable fashion. Remember that engine-only analogy from our Home page?

Before choosing any IT partner there's an important, overarching question you need to ask: Do you want a patched together IT solution or would you rather put in place an orderly platform that will allow you to build a future-facing, cost effective, unified, high-level, long-term IT competency?

You probably don't need to flip a coin to answer that question either.

External IT vs. Rackspace, the chart

Nobody likes a bully. We understand. This is why we're taking this moment to point out that it is not our intention to pick on a bigger, publicly traded company. But there is something very important at stake here: your business.
